A Spanish Village By the Sea

San Clemente is the southernmost point in Orange County, with all the charm of a seaside vacation every day. The “Spanish Village By the Sea” has a reputation that precedes itself, with cascading ocean side and inland hillside homes that sell quickly and are jealously kept.

Named after San Clemente Island that can often be seen from its shores, San Clemente was properly started in the 1920s by a real estate developer that foresaw Californians tiring of Los Angeles. The climate and beautiful vistas has become one of the greatest draws to this little city, and prompted development in the hills east of the shoreline. Homes in San Clemente are predominantly Spanish style, and range from large homes to townhouses and condos the closer you get to the beach. Tropical foliage and bright flowers adorn yards on the west side of the city, while massive estates in the eastern hills create swaths of green grass to look out at. Some homes in the older part of the city have been rebuilt, but you can find vintage residences alongside shining new construction.

San Clemente may have a beautiful climate, but one of the most active communities in the area is based around the coast. Avenida Del Mar, the historic core of San Clemente is home to several refined dining establishments, old world apartments, local artisans, and is a very short walk to the San Clemente Pier. Driving down El Camino Real up north to the Pacific Coast Highway offers one of the most scenic beach side drives in Orange County.
